Muster the Troops—
There’s Genocide in Bosnia
(Excerpt from
"Red Bugs, Moonshine & the Book of
Leviticus")
October 3, 2000; my son, Joshua Caleb, was born at 12:20 a.m.
today. It was the most amazing thing that I have ever experienced in my life. If
you think there is no God, then you have never witnessed the birth of your
child. My wife and I cried as our little "Governor Boudreaux" came out
of her body.
As he began to emerge, I could see the top of his head. I
could see his hair. As his head emerged I noted that he was face down. Dr.
Moraczewski (pronounced Morcheski), gently lifted his head and he began to
gurgle as if he were gasping for breath.
Within a couple of seconds, the good doctor suctioned the
fluid from the little guy’s mouth and nostrils and he began to breath, cough
and cry. The rest of his body then slipped on out. Dr. Moraczewski cradled him
and cleaned him. He was still connected by the umbilical cord to his mother. His
eyes were open. He was breathing, gurgling and crying. I chose not to cut the
cord. He was placed on my wife’s chest. She looked at me and whispered,
"He’s our little one flesh." His eyes were open wide, like a little
kid at a circus.
They wheeled my wife off to another room and handed the
"Governor Boudreaux" to me. I held him carefully. I cried. I took him
to the nursery where he was weighed and checked. "8 pounds 3 ounces, and he’s
perfect," the nurse announced. I left the nursery and went into the
stairwell where I was all alone. I cried again.
When did Joshua Caleb become a human being with a life worth
protecting? I am asking you? Was it only when I could see the hair on his head?
When his head came out? Or maybe when he started to cry? Perhaps you think it
was when his entire body was out of his mother? Or maybe when the umbilical cord
was cut? Does his race determine when he became human? His sex? Or the social,
financial or political standing of his parents? Does he only become human when
he can vote?
Is an unloved baby human? Or do you think he only became a
human being when two people began to love him?
That happened a long time before today.
If you have personally witnessed the birth of a child and you
remain a proponent of partial birth abortion, you should be confined—somewhere.
You are a danger to a civilized society. What does this have to do with the
Presidential election, you ask?
Al Gore says that he will appoint Supreme Court Justices who
will assert that a person has the Constitutionally protected right to stab a
partially born baby in the back of the head with a pair of scissors, suck out
his or her brains until his or her head collapses and then drag the dead limp
body from its mother. Bush says he will bring a stop to this killing. And that’s
all I have to say about that.
